2008 Camp Events


January 18, 2008 - Lee-Jackson-Maury Celebration at Richmond State Capitol.

January 19, 2008 - Lee-Jackson Day at the Massaponax Church. The Color Guard has been requested.

January 21, 2008 - Lee-Jackson Day at the United Methodist Church in Culpeper. This event is hosted by the Culpeper Chapter #73, United Daughters of the Confederacy. The Color Guard has been requested again this year.

May 3, 2008 - Rededication of marker at the corner of Hanover Street and Sunken Road in Fredericksburg at 2:00 p.m. This event is hosted by the Fredericksburg Chapter UDC.

May 17, 2008 - Memorial Ceremony Honoring the Life of Captain Henry Wirz at Mt. Olivet Cemetery, 1300 Bladensburg Road, NE, Washington, DC at 11:00 am.

May 24, 2008 - Stone/marker Dedication at 8:00 p.m. by the Matthew Fontaine Maury Camp at the Confederate Cemetery in Fredericksburg, VA. The Luminaria also begins at 8:00. Color Guard to form up at 7:15 in the Free Lance-Star parking lot.

May 25, 2008 - Grave marking ceremony for Real Daughter Bessie Johnson at the Alexander Chapel Wilderness Cemetery at 2:00 p.m. Take Route 3 and turn left on Route 20. Just past the Sheetz gas station, turn left onto Route 720 which is a very short dead end street. The cemetery is on the right.

May 26, 2008 - Memorial Day ceremony in the Fredericksburg Confederate Cemetery. The Color Guard will be leading the procession. Form up at Barefoot Greens at 8:30 a.m. and step off at 9:00 a.m. The ceremony will be at 10:00 a.m.

June 7, 2008 - Jeff Davis Birthday Celebration at the United Methodist Church in Culpeper at 1:00 p.m.

June 8, 2008 - Jeff Davis Birthday Celebration at Arlington National Cemetery at 3:00 p.m. Arrive at 1:00 p.m. if you wish to help place flags on the graves prior to the ceremony.

June 14, 2008 - Iron Cross Dedication at the grave of William B. Newton of the 30th VA Infantry Co. I at 11:00 a.m. Directions: Take Route 218 (White Oak Road) East. Make left on Belle Plains Road. Go about 1/2 mile and make a right on Bel Plain Drive. Make second left on Clift Street. Park on Clift Street on the side of the road. The cemetery is on the left and is a very short walk through the woods.

July 24, 2008 - Rev. Lacy Camp members are invited to participate in the living history on July 25 at the White Oak Museum for the CofC Convention in Fredericksburg. The children will be arriving at 4:00 p.m. so any setup or displays need to be in place by that time.

August 23 , 2008 - The Lacy Camp August meeting was held at Perkins Restaurant at 6:00 p.m off Route 17.

September 27, 2008 - Warrenton-Fauquier Heritage Parade.

September 27, 2008 - Grave marking ceremony for Edwin T. Adams in Bealton. This event is scheduled for 3:00 in the afternoon and Color Guard members who already signed up to march in the Warrenton Parade have agreed to drive a short distance away to present the colors at this grave marking ceremony in the early afternoon. There should be enough time for a quick lunch between these 2 events.

October 18, 2008 - Confederate Cross of Honor Ceremony for Schuyler Bradley Wright at 2:00 pm at Mt. Carmel Presbyterian Church, 6410 Lee-Jackson Highway, Steeles Tavern, (Augusta County) Virginia 24476.

November 11, 2008 - Grave Marking and Iron Cross Dedication Ceremony for Pvt. Thomas C. Tinsley, Co. B, 1st Regt, VA State Reserves, CSA in Hollywood Cemetery at 10:00 a.m. Pvt. Tinsley is buried in Section R, Lot 86. Color Guard to form-up at 9:15.

November 24, 2008 - Fredericksburg Chapter UDC Historical Night at the Rappahannock Regional Library at 5:00 p.m. The library is located at 1201 Caroline Street, Fredericksburg, VA 22401. The Color Guard has been requested for this event.

December 13, 2008 - Whitehall Confederate Memorial Park at 11:00 a.m., Budd Fields Road, Seven Springs, NC (Whitehall). Dedication Service for the 13 CSA Soldiers killed at the battle of Whitehall on December 15 and 16, 1862. This dedication service is also for the 90 CSA Sailors of the CSS Ram Neuse built at Whitehall. The Color Guard has been requested by the ANV Commander for this event.

December 16, 2008 - Rev. Beverly Tucker Lacy Camp Meeting and Christmas Pot-Luck at the Melvin Snow Memorial Library in Spotsylvania.
